Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Preventive has confiscated over 35 thousand liters of smuggled Iranian diesels in two separate raids. According to details, the action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that some unscrupulous elements were planning to transport huge quantity of smuggled Iranian diesel in the city via national highway.

Reacting on this information, the preventive department has mounted stiff vigilance at the place. Resultantly, a truck bearing registration TLP-259 was intercepted at Customs check post Ghaggar Phattak. The truck was apparently laden with gravel (crushed stones) and two persons were sitting in the vehicle. When both persons were asked whether any concealment or hidden tank made in the dumper truck, they showed their ignorance.

During examination, the preventive staff has found a fabricated tank filled with diesel beneath the loaded gravel. The driver and the helper failed to produce import documents of the commodity. After detailed examination, the department has ascertained the quantity of smuggled diesel to 17200 litres.

Similarly, in another action, the department has intercepted a truck bearing registration TAJ-341 at Mangopir road. The truck was also loaded with gravel and the department has found a hidden tank beneath the loaded crushed stones.

After examination, the department has confiscated over 18,000 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel. The market value of confiscated commodity was estimated to Rs. 13.1 million including both vehicles. Consequent upon recovery of smuggled diesel, two separate FIRs were lodged and further investigation is in progress.
